A sample of free events:

* On the occasion of European Heritage Days and World Tourism Day, the Acropolis Museum is giving visitors the opportunity to visit the archeological exhibits of Samothrace in the display ‘Samothrace. The Mysteries of the Great Gods’ on guided tours from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Participation is free of charge. GALLERY TALKS – PROGRAM: Friday, September 25 (‘The Great Gods of Samothrace and Athena of the Acropolis’: 8 p.m. Greek & 6 p.m. English – for this gallery talk the general admission fee to the Museum is required); Saturday, September 26 (‘Samothrace. The mysteries of the Great Gods': 1 p.m. Greek & 11 a.m. English); Sunday September 27 (‘Samothrace. The mysteries of the Great Gods': 1 p.m. Greek, 11 a.m. English & 11 a.m. French). On Saturday 26 September and on Sunday 26 September the Museum will be open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and admission will be free for visitors between 5 p.m. and 8 p.m.

* The Byzantine and Christian Museum (22 Vas. Sofias Avenue) presents an education program for students from 11 upwards from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, titled “Between Violence and Tolerance.” More programs focused on violence and tolerance through the displays of the museum for all ages take place on Saturday and Sunday between noon and 2 p.m. and 5.30 and 7.30 p.m. Call 213 213 9507

* The Epigraphical Museum focuses on war and hostages in antiquity at 11 a.m. on Saturday. Call 210 821 7637.

* The Museum of Greek Folk Musical Instruments presents the multiculturalism of traditional music in its display at noon on Saturday, September 26. Call 210 325 0198.

* The Children’s Museum of Athens on Kydathinaion Street presents an educational program for primary school students titled “These and the others”. Call 210 3312995.

* The Museum of Greek Children’s Art (9 Kodrou Street, Plaka) has family art events from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for kids between the ages of 5 and 11 years on Saturday.

* Herakleidon Museum (16 Herakleidon Street, Thisseion) presents an event on thought and logic with three parallel workshops for primary school children and their parents. Call 210 346 1981.
