BBC to produce epic TV series on the Fall of Troy to rival 'Game of Thrones'

To say that HBO series ‘Game of Thrones’ is one of the biggest TV series hits is an understatement. The huge commercial success of the fantasy drama, which was adapted from George Martin’s novel series, it seems has made other TV networks, like the BBC, ready to follow in HBO’s footsteps. BBC1 announced it had an epic re-telling of the siege of Troy titled ‘Troy: A Fall Of A City’ in the pipelines. The upcoming TV series, which will reportedly cost 2.7 mlm Euros per episode (one of the most expensive ever produced in BBC’s history), has been described as ‘a bold and visceral drama’ and hopes to rival HBO’s great hit. As BBC1 controller, Charlotte Moore revealed it will be ‘intimate and epic, gripping and exhilarating, rich with psychological intrigue and human drama’. According to reports, the Troy series could span across 8 or more episodes.
