Sepp Blatter and Michel Platini suspended for 90 days

FIFA decided to suspend both FIFA president Sepp Blatter and UEFA president Michel Platini due to corruption allegations.

All started when the Swiss attorney general, Michael Lauber, opened a criminal investigation on allegations according to which Blatter mis-sold a World Cup TV rights contract to the disgraced former FIFA official Jack Warner in 2006 and made a “disloyal payment” of £1.3m to Platini in 2011.

Both Blatter and Platini deny these allegations.

Platini had earlier released a statement saying that leak of his probable suspension is an attempt to damage his reputation adding: “I have always acted and expressed myself with honesty, courage and candour, as I feel that this is my moral duty.”
