Bulgaria Police Find Grenade Launchers Used in Sofia Attack
Police in Bulgaria's capital Sofia have found the two grenade launchers used in a Friday attack on a former counter-intelligence agent, the Bulgarian Interior Ministry has said.
No-one was injured in the attack which occurred in broad daylight, with the agent, Alexei Petrov, claiming he was not being targeted and his car was hit "by mistake".
Private national NOVA TV station cites police officials who say only one of the projectiles, fired by one of the grenade launchers, hit the armored vehicle used by Petrov, inflicting only external damage, while the other hit a building located nearby.
Prosecutors have launched an investigation.
A red Opel Astra (used by the attackers, in the words of one of Petrov's bodyguards who called 112 minutes after the incident) is still being sought, with its license plate having contained the numbers 3860 which police, however, believe were "stolen".
