UK, U.S. Warn of 'Possible Threats' to Westerners in Beijing

The British and U.S. governments have issued a warning about possible threats against Westerners in Beijing on or around Christmas Day, the BBC reported on Thursday.

According to UK and U.S. officials,they have received information of possible threats in Sanlitun, which is a busy bar and shopping district in the Chinese capital city, the BBC said.

The CNN reported that the embassies of the UK, U.S. and France in China have received information of possible threats against Westerners in Beijing around Christmas and have sent out warnings to their citizens and staff, urging extra vigilance if they are in the Sanlitun district.

The Australian embassy has also issued a warning.

Beijing police have tightened security around Sanlitun district on Thursday.
