All Ministers of Bulgaria's Junior Coalition Partner Express Support for Cabinet
All ministers and thirteen MPs from the parties constituting the junior coalition partner, the Reformist Bloc (RB), signed a declaration in support of the Bulgarian government.
This was announced by the Deputy Prime Minister and one of the co-leaders of RB Meglena Kuneva on Monday, Darik radio informs.
Kuneva is chairperson of the Bulgaria of the Citizens (DBG) Movement.
According to her, the declaration will make clear which parties from the RB back the government and which are in opposition.
The largest ruling party GERB and RB are expected to sign an annex to the coalition agreement by the end of the month, most likely before January 25.
Kuneva made clear that the declaration and annex do not go outside the framework of the main governing agreement between GERB and RB.
The signing of the annex will provide the opportunity for review of the progress achieved on the implementation of each of the cabinet's priorities, with the government giving an account of its work once every six months.
Tensions within the ruling coalition started to appear in December last year after the failure of parliament to adopt all the amendments to the constitution concerning the reform of the judiciary, which had been proposed by then Justice Minister Hristo Ivanov.
This was followed by the resignation of Ivanov, while Democrats for Strong Bulgaria (DSB), one of the parties constituting RB, withdrew its support for the government.
However DSB member and Health Minister Petar Moskov retained his position in the cabinet.
Kuneva said that her party will insist on accelerating the reforms, with the main priorities being on the electoral and anti-corruption legislation.
