Focus: Tsipras gov’t appoints friends and relatives

German magazine Focus published an extensive article on the Greek government claiming it appoints friends and relatives to public job positions stressing that “the new government of Greece had promised to put an end to the old nepotism. But, it seems it continues this practice”.

The magazine notes Alexis Tsipras had promised to put an end to nepotism and corruption speaking of “ethical advantage” of the left, but one year after he was elected the situation in Greece has remained the same. “But one thing seems to flourish, nepotism, ensuring profitable jobs for relatives and trusted friends” the article says.

The Focus names also a number of relatives of political figures who were appointed to public job positions during the last year, including the cousin of Prime Minister, Giorgos Tsipras, who was appointed General Secretary in the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
