Police officer killed in Turkey's southeast
A police officer was killed on Jan. 15 in the southeastern province of Siirt during a counter-terrorism operation against the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK).
According to security sources, police squads extended their operation to an address in Ulus.
During clashes, a police officer was wounded and later succumbed to his injuries at Siirt State Hospital. Three other injured policemen are still receiving treatment.
According to state figures, five PKK militants were also killed during the operation.
