610 PKK militants killed since December 2015, Turkish army says

A total of 610 militants of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) have been killed in army operations in Turkey's southeast since operations began, according to new figures released by the Turkish military.

According to a statement issued by the General Staff on Jan. 21, security forces on Jan. 20 killed 12 militants in the Cizre district of southeastern ??rnak province, where a total of 364 PKK militants have been killed. 

During the Jan. 20 operation, nine improvised explosive devices were diffused, while five firearms along with 153 rounds of ammunition were seized. 

In the Silopi district of ??rnak, four militants were killed, bringing the total number of PKK casualties in the town to 140, according to the army.
