Bulgaria Backs Moldova's EU Aspirations
Bulgaria hopes that the political forces in Moldova will act responsibly to resolve the political crisis and restore calm in the country, the Foreign Ministry said in a statement on Thursday .
Protesters against the newly approved Moldovan government broke into the parliament building in Chisinau on Wednesday. The protesters led by the pro-Russian Socialist opposition stormed parliament only minutes after Moldovan MPs had approved a new pro-European cabinet led by Pavel Filip, deputy chairperson of the ruling Democratic Party.
"We support the continuation of the pro-European course and the implementation of democratic reforms in the Republic of Moldova," the Bulgarian Foreign Ministry said.
Moldova needs to have a legitimate government in place to deal with the country's economic and social problems in the interest of the welfare of its citizens, according to the statement.
