Italy’s fire brigade rushes to save woman from having sex
A middle-aged Italian woman called the fire brigade after she lost the key to a chastity belt that she was wearing to prevent herself from having sexual intercourse. The woman from Padua, who has not been identified due to Italy’s privacy laws, sent stunned firefighters to the rescue after she convinced them of the urgency to break the lock.
Italian newspaper Il Matino di Padova reports that she said, “Hello, I lost the keys to a lock and I can’t open it.” The firefighters tried to keep a smile on their faces while breaking the lock free.
Chastity belts were designed in the 16th century to prevent women from entering into sexual relationships or prevent them from masturbating. It also protected them from rape. In modern times, women who wish to remain chaste have discarded chastity belts in preference for purity rings to remind them of their pledge to remain celibate.
