Confiscated! 14,350 items sold illegally on the streets of Patras

A police raid on illegal street vendors took place at the center of the port city of Patras in the Peloponnese. Over 14,000 goods were confiscated during the operation where eight men were arrested.

In the framework of the police checks, three men aged 33, 32 and 21 years of age from Senegal were arrested as well as five men from Bangladesh whose ages ranged from 17 to 40 yeasr of age.

The men “set up shop” at central commercial roads, siphoning trade from legal stores operating in the region.

The street vendors are now facing the Court of Misdemeanours in Paris where a case has been filed against them. The 14,350 products confiscated included shoes, handbags, underwear, homewoear, and other items.
