Mediterranean diva Rita to perform in Istanbul
?? Sanat will bring one of the most powerful singers of the Mediterranean and Middle East, Rita, to Istanbul on April 12 for her first solo performance in Turkey.
After emigrating from Iran to Israel at the age of 8, Rita later became Israel's most successful singing artist. Her debut album was released in 1987 and went triple platinum, after which she went on to launch her first international release, "Breaking Those Walls," which sold over 50,000 copies.
Rita's career went into overdrive in the early 1990s after she released her version of The Police song "Roxanne," a single which went down particularly well in France and Belgium, selling over 140,000 copies.
In 2009 her first American single "Love" penetrated the American music charts, conquering a respectful place in the top 40.
A winner of both national and international music awards, she was named the top female singer in the past 60 years during a special countdown for Israel's 60th anniversary.
Rita's unique voice has won her international acclaim, with appearances across the globe. Throughout her career Rita has sold over a million copies of her albums, won dozens of prizes and been celebrated as the top performer and singer in Israel.
In her latest album, "My Joys," she created an original and engaging sound, which has proved an immediate hit with her fans around the world.
