77 people die in Russia plane crash (video of crash+pics)
A Boeing 737 passenger plane has crashed in Russia, with all 62 on board killed. Flight 981 of Flydubai airlines was making the route demo the Dubai, United Arab Emirates to Rostov, Russia, when it crashed approximately at 2.50 am (Greek time) during its landing at Rostov on Don airport in Rostov, in south Russia. The 55 passengers and 7 crew members were all killed. According to Russian news agencies ‘Tass’ and ‘Ria Novosti’ the plane’s pilot was Cypriot, while the other crew members were 2 Spanish, one Russian, one Colombian, a Kazakh and one from Seychelles. Most of the passengers were from Rostov. Russian President Vladimir Putin extended his condolences to the families of those lost in the crash. According to news agency, the causes of the crash at this point are considered to be weather related, as visibility was very low during the landing attempt at the airport. LifeNews network reports that plane crashed 100 meters from the runway. Flydubai is a UAE state owned airlines company and has never had one of its planes crash since it was founded in 2008.
