Bulgarian Authorities Bust Printing House for Fake EUR 100 Banknotes
During a specialised operation on Friday, Bulgarian authorities busted a printing house for the production of counterfeit EUR 100 banknotes.
The operation was conducted by police officers from the regional directorates of the interior ministry in Pleven and Veliko Tarnovo as well as officials of the State Agency for National Security (DANS) and Europol.
The authorities searched three addresses in the town of Levski, the village of Kozar Belene in the municipality of Levski and the village of Delyanovtsi in the municipality of Svishtov.
Printing presses, laser printers, watermarks, holograms, stickers, chemicals and other materials used in the making of counterfeit money were found and seized at the three addresses.
The police officers found and seized EUR 24 000 in EUR 100 banknotes which were ready for distribution. Authorities also seized molds for fake notes amounting to more than EUR 500 000 as well as thirteen fake identity documents.
The police has detained three men 72 hours, the press service of the interior ministry informs.
