Red Star bow out of Europa League with draw with Sassuolo

BELGRADE - Red Star Belgrade have failed to reach the UEFA Europa League group stage after drawing 1-1 with Italian side Sassuolo at home in the second leg of the play-offs on Thursday.

In front of a crowd of over 20,000 at the Rajko Mitic Stadium, the reigning Serbian champions proved unable to overcome a crushing 3-0 defeat from the first leg in Italy, especially after Domenico Berardi killed the tie off by putting the visitors in front in the 28th minute.

Red Star captain Aleksandar Katai equalised in the 58th minute.
