Construction of 68 New Caravans To Begin at Harmanli Refugee Camp

BGNES

The State Agency for Refugees has begun the construction of 68 new caravans for over 400 people in the Harmanli refugee camp, reported BGNES.

These must be ready by the end of the year and will cost BGN 2M. With a capacity of 2,700 people, the Harmanli refugee camp now hosts over 2,800. This is why placement in the caravans that were brought to Harmanli at the beginning of 2016 will begin within a few days.

The caravans are equipped with kitchens, bathrooms and air-conditioning and can take in 6 persons. This will increase the capacity of the camp but it will still be insufficient.

Dimitar Zahariev has been appointed as temporary director of the centre.
