Unmanned aerial vehicle crashes in Turkey's east

An indigenous unmanned aerial vehicle crashed in the eastern province of Elazığ on Oct. 9 after experiencing problems during an emergency landing, Doğan News Agency has reported.

The unmanned aerial vehicle, known as an ANKA, crashed around five kilometers from the old Elazığ airport under the operation of the 8th Corps Commandership, on the outskirts of the Yünlüce village at around 7:30 a.m.

Locals said they saw black smoke rising from the corn fields following the sound of a blast. They immediately informed security forces of the incident.

Meanwhile, security forces cordoned off the scene, blocking entrance to the area. 

The crashed aircraft was later taken to the 8th Corps Commandship for inspection.

Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI) also announced that the aircraft landed after experiencing engine problems.
