One Dance Week Features Performances from France, Korea on Oct 13-14
International One Dance Week festival will bring to the audience two events on Thursday and Friday at Boris Hristov House of Culture in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, organizers say.
On October 13, at 19:30, the venue will host the Are Friends Electric? show by choreographer Yuval Pick, director of Chorégraphique de Rillieux-la-Pape, France, that will take the audience on a journey with the music of Kraftwerk and the works of Austrian composer Franz Schubert. Dancing traditions of Romanticism will be viewed through the means of expression of contemporary dancing.
Being one of the most influential choreographers in contemporary dance and performance, Pick's work is cherished by the public and critics from around the world.
This first festival week closes on Friday, at 19:30, with two impressive miniatures performed by Goblin Party, the stars of the Korean dance scene. Soul Piercing is inspired by the Korean burial traditions, while Shyness is a beautiful and disturbing reflection on loneliness in modern world. The group is among the phenomena of the Korean dance scene, creating its own dance productions and taking part in festivals and performing art centers such as 92Y Harkness Dance Center (New York), Tanzmesse (Düsseldorf), Spring Awakening festival (the Netherlands), Pays de Danses (Belgium) and others.
One Dance Week is organized by One Foundation for Culture and Arts with the support of Plovdiv Municipality and America for Bulgaria Foundation, with the general partnership of Programista; with the main partnership of Societe Generale Expressbank and Patishta Plovdiv.
