Stefanovic: Serbia remains reliable partner on migrant route

BELGRADE - Minister of Interior Nebojsa Stefanovic said Monday a common solution is needed for the problem of irregular migrants in the countries of the region and along the Balkan route as it will require fewer financial resources and contribute to security and stability.

At a meeting with IOM Western Balkans coordinator Gianluca Rocco and Head of IOM Office in Serbia Lidija Markovic, Stefanovic said Serbia will remain a reliable partner on the migrant route.

He said that Serbia is ready to help and do everything that is necessary for maintaining stability and keeping migration flows in line with positive legislation and humanitarian law.

They said the cooperation between the Serbian Ministry of Interior and the IOM has been excellent to date, and agreed further steps in implementation of project initiatives.
