Syrian man arrested in Crete on terror charges

A Syrian man was arrested Friday in Crete on a European arrest warrant issued by Belgian authorities.

According to a statement by the police, the suspect was wanted in connection with acts of terrorism within the European Union, his alleged participation in a criminal organization, illegal people trafficking and forgery.

The 51-year-old suspect was nabbed in the area of Apokorona in Hania. Local police confiscated scores of mobile phones, a laptop, computer hard disks and electronic devices after a raid of his home
