Medvedev: Free trade zone talks with Serbia to start soon

MOSCOW - Russian PM Dmitry Medvedev on Friday announced the start of free trade zone talks between the Eurasian Economic Union and Israel and Serbia, respectively.

"The first round of talks is planned with Israel before the end of the year. Talks with Serbia and a number of other countries will also start", said Medvedev at a meeting of the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council, Russia Today reported.

The Supreme Eurasian Economic Council decided in May to commence talks with Serbia on a unification of trade regimes, which, as EEU Minister of Trade Veronika Nikishina said at the time, will result in a free trade zone of all EEU members and Serbia.

Serbia currently has free trade zone agreements with only three EEU members - Russia, Kyrgyzstan and Belarus - and they differ in some of the provisions, she explained.
