Patrushev proposes memorandum on security cooperation

BELGRADE - The Secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation, Nikolai Patrushev, on Wednesday proposed to the Serbian Interior Ministry to consider working on a memorandum of understanding to create the required formal conditions for regular communication on security matters of mutual interest.

This was discussed in Belgrade in 2013, and the document, based on a standard draft, has no legally binding character or the status of an international agreement, Patrushev said at the beginning of a meeting with Serbian Interior Minister Nebojsa Stefanovic.

The most recent meeting of the Council and a Serbian Interior Ministry delegation was held in Grozny this year to discuss international and regional security issues, he said.

"Today, we have an opportunity to dwell in even more detail on matters of mutual interest," Patrushev said.
