Lunacek: Even if you meet all the requirements, we do not promise membership in the EU

BELGRADE - Vice President of the European Parliament Ulrike Lunacek said that no country in the Western Balkans can be promised that it will be admitted into the European Union (EU), even if it meets all the conditions, because there is rising number of parties and politicians in the EU who are not only critical of the EU, but they also want to destroy it.

In the European Parliament there are also people who do not like the EU, not even its extension, explained Lunacek.

"I cannot promise not one country in the Western Balkans that, even if it meets all the requirements, its membership in the EU will be
possible, because that has to be accepted by every member of the Union," Lunacek told the reporters.

She pointed out that the European Parliament is an institution that is most open to enlargement, as an important part of EU policy.
