Opposition Candidate Dubs Himself 'Moral Winner' in Bulgaria's Presidential Vote

Socialist-backed candidate Rumen Radev has claimed the "moral victory" in the Bulgarian presidential elections while casting a ballot in the runoff on Sunday.

"Bulgarians should go to the polls today [Sunday] and congratulate themselves on a legitimately elected President, and this depends on all of us," he has argued after voting, as shown by bTV station.

"The moral victory is here, but the prolitical one is still ahead."

He has refused to comment on a possible government resignation in the event of his victory and has urged patience until results are made public.

Radev got a better result than the main ruling party's candidate, Tsetska Tsacheva, in the first round and some pollsters earlier this week foresaw the win would be repeated in the runoff. Bulgaria's Prime Minister has pledged to step down if Tsacheva loses.
