Four 'most powerful' Turkish women invited to US

Four women from Turkey have been invited to next month's "The Hollywood Reporter's Women in Entertainment Power 100" event, honoring 100 inspiring and powerful women in media from all around the world, daily Hürriyet has reported.

Doğan TV Holding Chairwoman Arzuhan Doğan Yalçındağ, singer Ajda Pekkan, Lifetime Turkey co-founder Esra Oflaz Güvenkaya and Mediasa Media Group founder Demet Sabancı Çetindoğan will attend the event in Los Angeles on Dec. 7.

Actress Susan Sarandon, actress Emma Stone, actress Jessica Lange and sportswomen Simon Biles will also attend the event, during which Megan Kelly will give a speech at opening ceremony.

Yalçındağ said the magazine (The Hollywood Reporter) aimed to draw attention to the participation and leadership of women in the entertainment industry in forming the list.

"Half of the employees in the media industry are women in Turkey. But the number of women at the administration level is still limited. I want to draw attention to the necessity of progress in this case," said Yalçındağ on being invited to the ceremony.

Lifetime Turkey co-founder Oflaz said it was a great feeling to be invited, noting that she had gone through a tough journey to reach this stage.

"We have a chance to reach more women in Turkey through this global social responsibility project," Oflaz said.

Mediasa Media Group founder Çetindoğan said her invitation was a source of pride, as did renowned Turkish singer Pekkan.

"You know, there are many tragic cases about women in the world and this is the deepest point of my sensibility," Pekkan said.
