Locals find dead body while playing with snow in Ankara

Locals found the body of a dead man in a wasteland while they were playing with snow in Turkey's capital Ankara late on Dec. 28.

The incident occurred at 00:30 a.m. in the Yenimahalle district of Ankara. Some locals who went to the wasteland to play with snow found a man who was lying motionlessly. 

Police officers and a number of medics arrived at the scene.

An initial medical investigation revealed that the man died of gunshots after finding bullet holes on his body. 

Police started investigations to identify the man who was taken to the Dr. Abdurrahman Yurtaslan Ankara Oncology Training and Research Hospital morgue after crime scene investigation teams could not find an ID on him. 

Laboratory teams collected the man's fingerprints and matched it with a man identified as Tarık Gündoğdu, 42, according to state-run Anadolu Agency.

Gündoğdu was working at the Credit and Dormitories Institution of the Council of Higher Education, who was reported lost on Dec. 27 by his brother.
