Head coach of Serbia women's national basketball team quits

BELGRADE - Marina Maljkovic, head coach of the Serbia women's national basketball team, on Tuesday confirmed she was leaving the position due to emotional and physical exhaustion.

"After many sleepless nights, I made the decision not to continue as head coach. The only reason is that I am emotionally and physically drained, and I needed rest. I want to thank everyone for the support," Maljkovic told a press conference at the House of Basketball in Belgrade.

Expressing regret over the fact she would not be cooperating with new Basketball Federation of Serbia President Predrag Danilovic, she said the decision did not mean she would be leaving Serbian basketball altogether.

"I will fully dedicate myself to the Movement for Women's Basketball," she said.
