London's Royal Philharmonic Orchestra in Ljubljana next month

The performance will be held as part of the 65th Ljubljana Festival and will feature Beethoven's Violin Concerto performed by Zukerman, widely regarded as one of the greatest violinists of the second half of the 20th century.

According to the festival director Darko Brlek, the philharmonics will perform at Hotel Union's Secession concert hall, whose capacity of 550 seats will probably need to be expanded.

The concert is being advertised as a present to Slovenia on Culture Day, 8 February. It will also mark the opening of the Ljubljana Festival.

Founded by Sir Thomas Beecham in 1946, the orchestra is considered one of the most innovative philharmonics in the world.
