Immigration Minister Mouzalas defends ammendment for direct concessions on refugee camps

Greek Alternate Minister of Immigration Policy Ioannis Mouzalas said normalcy on the refugee crisis did not depend on Greece, but the actual refugee flows and Greece’s responsibilities arising from EU regulations. Speaking before the parliamentary committee, Mr. Mouzalas defended legislative amendments he introduces that extend the contracts via direct concessions regarding the setting up of per-departure refugee camps. “We were compelled to set up per-departure camps on the island based on the EU-Turkish agreement. We would need 8 months to complete these constructions bases on old treaties but they must be done faster”, he said. He added the circumstances remained urgent and were constantly changing. “They did not depend on us”, he stressed.
