Chinese start building Corridor 11 section in Belgrade

Aleksandar Vucic on Wednesday attended the start of works to build a 17.6-kilometer Corridor 11 highway section.

It will connect Belgrade's suburban municipalities of Surcin and Obrenovac, Tanjug is reporting.

Addressing those who gathered at the site today, the prime minister "noted he was grateful to Chinese friends, with whom a 208 million euro contract had been signed after long negotiations that had not been easy."

"Our country was able to sign the contract only after it had stopped the growth of public debt with financial discipline and accountability," Vucic said, according to the Serbian government.

Serbia is "a reliable partner and China will always be able to count on her," Vucic remarked.
He "specified that the bridge across the Sava and Kolubara, whose length is approximately 1.7 kilometers, will cost EUR 103 million."
