Serbia opens Chapters 20, 26 in its EU accession talks

BRUSSELS - Serbia opened two new chapters in its EU accession talks - Chapters 20 (enterprise and industrial policy) and 26 (education and culture) at an EU-Serbia Intergovernmental Conference (IGC) in Brussels on Monday.

Chapter 26 was immediately closed at the same meeting as there are no common EU benchmarks for its closure.

Grech, Hahn: Opening of chapters proof of Serbia's work

BRUSSELS - Maltese Deputy PM Louis Grech, whose country holds the EU Presidency, and EU Enlargement Commissioner Johannes Hahn said Monday the opening of two new chapters in Serbia's EU talks was proof of its serious work and approach.

Hahn expressed confidence more chapters would be opened in 2017.
