Serbia: More girls than boys apply for military high school
This year for the first time more girls than boys have applied to enroll in Belgrade's Military Gymnasium (a type of secondary school in Serbia).
Serbian Army and MoD spokesperson Jovan Krivokapic told this to state broadcaster RTS, adding that the school remains popular among those who "love the uniform, the military profession, and defending their country" - with nine candidates applying for each spot.
He also noted that students can apply to enroll in the Military Academy and the VMA Faculty of Medicine until the end of March.
Krivokapic spoke about the upcoming anniversary of the start of NATO's aggression against Serbia, to say the Serbian Army (VS) would participate in all state ceremonies, and reminded the audience that more than 1,000 police officers and soldiers died during the 1999 NATO bombing.
