Bosnian football federation apologizes for post-match violence

The Bosnian football federation has apologized to its Greek counterpart, EPO, about last Friday's post-match violence between members of both teams.

The match, a World Cup qualifier, between host Bosnia and visiting Greece ended in a 0-0 draw but was marred by clashes between players, triggered after the assistant coach of the home side punched Greek player Giannis Gianniotas in the face after the match, while Bosnia star player Edin Dzeko grabbed Greek defender Costas Manolas by the throat.

Both players are teammates at Italian club Roma. In a letter addressed to EPO president Ioannis Drosos, his Bosnian counterpart Elvedin Begic ascribed the events to the tensions of the match and conveyed "our sincerest apologies for everything you experienced at the stadium."
