Turkey registers almost 100,000 vehicles in April

The number of vehicles registered in Turkey decreased by 7.2 percent year-on-year in April to 99,260 units, according to the country's statistics authority on June 13.        

The total number of road motor vehicles registered was around 21.5 million by the end of April, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) announced.      
 
In April, automobiles accounted for most new registrations - 55 percent (54,535) - a decrease of 16 percent compared to the same month last year.        

In terms of the distribution of model brands for newly registered cars in the last month, 15.4 percent were Renault, 11.2 percent Volkswagen, 8.9 percent Fiat, 8.2 percent Hyundai, 7.1 percent Opel, 5.9 percent Dacia, 5.6 percent Ford, 4.7 percent Honda, 4.7 percent Peugeot and 4.2 percent Toyota. Other brands accounted for 24 percent of the total.

In the first four months of the year, the number of registered motor vehicles rose to 395,815, a 2 percent increase compared to the same period last year, TÜİK added.
