Greece officially undertakes representation of Egypt in Qatar

The Greek flag was on Friday hoisted at the building housing the Egyptian Embassy in Doha as Greek authorities officially undertake the representation in Qatar of Egypt, one of five Arab nations to have severed diplomatic ties with Qatar over the latter's alleged support for extremist groups.

"Following the completion of the relevant negotiations, an agreement was signed a short while ago between Greece and the Arab Republic of Egypt on the diplomatic representation of Egypt in Qatar by the Greek Embassy in Doha," the Greek Foreign Ministry said.

"The agreement enters into force immediately and covers diplomatic, administrative and consular affairs."
