Convicted N17 terrorist on hunger strike rushed to hospital

Convicted November 17 terrorist Christodoulos Xiros was rushed to the Papanikolaou Hospital in Thessaloniki on Friday for reasons that were not made public though they are believed to be connected to his ongoing hunger strike.

Xiros, who is serving multiple life sentences at Diavata Prison, has been on hunger strike for three weeks, demanding improved detention conditions.

In comments posted on an anti-establishment website earlier this week, he referred to "inhumane treatment" and "an organized plan of annihilation," describing the chief warden at the prison as his "torturer."

Tight security measures have been put in place at the hospital, police said.
