Romanian-Moldovan bilateral cooperation, on agenda of talks between Defence Minister and counterpart in Chisinau
Romanian-Moldovan bilateral military cooperation, regional security strengthening as well as the cooperation relations between the Republic of Moldova with the North-Atlantic Alliance and the European Union were among the topics tackled during the meeting in Chisinau, between National Defence Minister Mihai Fifor and his counterpart of the Republic of Moldova, Eugen Sturza.
"During the official talks, Minister Mihai Fifor stated that Romania will continue to uphold the observance of the Republic of Moldova's territorial integrity and to grant support with regard to the country's European path towards integration," informs a pres release of the National Defence Ministry (MApN) sent to AGERPRES on Monday.
With regard to bilateral cooperation in defence matters, the two officials discussed about starting new collaboration projects, to be developed in the future.
"In the upcoming period, emphasis will be placed on the instruction of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Moldova, through participation in common exercises and training activities, the provision of expertise in drawing up programmatic documents and the participation of servicemen in as many educational programmes as possible within military institutions in Romania. Moreover, we will support the implementation of commitments assumed by the Republic of Moldova within the mechanism and programmes of the European Union and NATO," Minister Mihai Fifor specified.
Minister of Defence of the Republic of Moldova Eugen Sturza thanked the Romanian party for its constant support provided and expressed assurances that he will pursue efforts at ministry level for the modernisation and reform of the Armed Forces, with a focus mainly on training and endowment.
Furthermore, the two dignitaries underscored the need to intensify cooperation in defence, appreciating the importance of cohesion and unity, all the more so in the international and regional security context.
