CNCD: PM Dancila's statement about "autistic" people who "misinform" is not discrimination
The National Council for Combating Discrimination (CNCD) on Monday established that the affirmation of Prime Minister Viorica Dancila about the "autistic" people who "misinform" in Brussels stays within the limits of freedom of expression and does not qualify as discrimination.
"The Managing College of the National Council for Combating Discrimination, gathered to solve the petitions from 26.02.2018, debated on the statement of Mrs Prime Minister Dancila Viorica Vasilica made during her interview with Antena 3 private television broadcaster on February 15, 2018, which had the following content: "I think that these people are autistic since they can't see and can't hear what all people with good faith can see and hear," deciding that the statement in question stays within the limits of freedom of expression and does not qualify as discrimination.
CNCD also decided that the lack of intervention of the show moderator, Mihai Gadea, is not discrimination.
The decision was adopted by the majority of the participants - eight votes were cast "in favour" and one "against."
The explanatory will be communicated to the parties, in due time, and it can be challenged with the administrative court. AGERPRES (RO - author: Florin Marin, editor: Claudia Stanescu; EN - author: Cristina Zaharia, editor: Rodica State)
