PM Dancila on NATO Day: We want to further prove we are credible, stable ally in Black Sea region

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila sent a message on the occasion of marking the NATO Day in Romania, in which she says that authorities want to further prove that our country is "a credible and stable ally" in the Black Sea region.

"Today we mark the NATO Day in Romania for the 14th time, with the same confidence in the security guarantee that the North -Atlantic Alliance membership grants us. All these years meant a deep transformation of the Romanian Army into a truly professional army, but also Romania's substantial contributions to NATO operations and missions. It's a path that we took on with all the responsibility, we enjoy the confidence and respect of our North Atlantic partners and we want to further prove that we are a credible and stable ally in the Black Sea region. I express my respect for all those who contributed in this matter, sometimes, unfortunately, even with the price of the supreme sacrifice," PM Dancila stated, according to a release of the Government sent to AGERPRES on Sunday.

Furthermore, the head of the Gov't mentioned that Romania observes its commitment towards NATO regarding the allocation of 2 percent of the GDP for the Army endowment.

"Defence represents a priority sector, taking into account the complicated geopolitical context and the security challenges which we are lately confronted with. Romania observes its commitment toward NATO regarding the allocation of 2 percent of the GDP for the army endowment and the investments that we have envisage for the next period will focus on the necessary military equipment acquisitions and the re-launch of the Romanian defense industry. They are defensive measures, not against someone, through which Romania understands to contribute to the promotion of the North Atlantic Alliance role for maintaining international peace and security," Dancila stated.
