Melescanu - Tzipi Hotovely meeting: Discussions on Romania - State of Israel cooperation, fight against anti-Semitism
Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Melescanu on Tuesday had a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of the State of Israel Tzipi Hotovely, who was paying a visit to Romania, on which occasion they highlighted the excellent level of the cooperation between the two countries and granted special attention to the fight against anti-Semitism.
According to a Romanian Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) release sent to AGERPRES, the two dignitaries evoked the traditional friendship ties between the two countries and highlighted the excellent level of cooperation between Romania and the State of Israel, consolidated over 70 years of uninterrupted diplomatic relations.
In context, Melescanu appreciated the special dynamics of the bilateral contacts both on a diplomatic level and on a sectoral level, showing that deepening the cooperation with Israel is a priority for Romania's Government, the release mentions.
Moreover, during the talks the two focused on diversifying the economic and sectoral cooperation, in the perspective of organising the third session of Romanian-Israeli inter-governmental consultations, and special attention was granted to the fight against anti-Semitism issue and promoting education in this direction, MAE points out.
The discussion agenda also included aspects of cooperation within multilateral institutions, as well as an opinion exchange on major-interest international matters and regional developments, in particular the prospects of the Peace Process in the Middle East, the crisis in Syria, Iraq and the Gulf Region, as well as the prospects of the nuclear agreement with Iran, MAE also underscores.
