Bulgaria's Chief Prosecutor: We Received Documents for Extradition of 4 More People to the US

"Today, documents from the Ministry of Interior have been received for the arrest of four more Bulgarians - two men and two women. The situatuion the same as with Zhelyaz Andreev. This was announced by the Chief Prosecutor Sotir Tsatsarov at the extraordinary briefing on the case with the request for extradition to the United Stated of the 29-year-old Bulgarian from Dobrich.

"We will not hold them in custody because that is not necessary. We can consult with the US without violating the rights of Bulgarian citizens. I propose to the Florida Prosecutor's Office to proceed with consultations, "the Chief Prosecutor specified.

Tsatsarov has already sent a letter to the Minister of Justice Tsetska Tsacheva for the consultations because the extradition treaty is between states.

"The requests for the detention of all five Bulgarians are from 2016, in other words, there is no urgency for the surrender, as it is written in the treaty between the United States and Bulgaria. Florida has done nothing for two years, but just for 2017 Bulgaria has handed over 3 people to the US, "said Tsatsarov.

Meanwhile, Ombudsman Maya Manolova also met with Zhelyaz Andreev and requested a change in the extradition treaty with the United States.
