Over 40,000 tourists expected on 1 May at seaside; Mamaia and Vama Veche, top destinations

Over 40,000 tourists are expected during the 1 May mini-holiday at the Romanian seaside, most choosing such resorts as Mamaia, Vama Veche and Mamaia-North Navodari, a press release of the Federation of Romania's Tourism Promotion Associations (FAPT) sent to AGERPRES informs.

"We will not have any official figures, as usual, although every year we have expectations that the Tourism Minister will solve this issue, of the lack of official figures as regards the Romanian tourism. Nonetheless, we estimate that over 40,000 tourists will be at the seaside, most of them, around 30,000, in Mamaia. The events organised in Mamaia and Vama Veche draw the most attention and this is the direct result of the promotion we have ensured in the last years. We cannot expect to draw tourists to places where nothing happens, but in places where events are being organised we will have results and attract a substantial number of tourists and a good start, as a destination image, for the 2018 season," Corina Martin, FAPT President, specified.

For this season, Corina Martin estimates a 10 percent rise, at least, in the number of tourists that will arrive at the seaside and over 15-20 percent in the Danube Delta.

Starting with 26 April, it's the kickoff of the events in clubs, on beaches, in tourist locations, particularly in Mamaia, Vama Veche, Mamaia North Navodari and Constanta, for all preferences and segments of tourists.

The SUNWAVES electronic music festival in Mamaia, at its 23rd edition, will reunite, over a 5-day period, over 25,000 participants, of whom more than 10,000 will be young people from Western Europe, mainly the UK, Germany, France and Italy who come specifically to Mamaia for this festival.

"Mamaia Style" continues to attract an extremely well defined and loyal segment of fans and supporters, and the 1 May weekend is, as always, the first proof of the season, every year.

In Vama Veche, Sunset Festival returns this year with its fifth edition and promises an unforgettable atmosphere for urban music lovers, being one of the few outdoor festivals dedicated to them.

"Opening Party', 'Smile to the Summer' - generic names for many parties and events that will be organised on beaches, clubs for the over 10,000 tourists expected this weekend in Vama Veche.

President of the Employers' Association in the Danube Delta Tourism (PTDD) Daniel Ilusca estimates that the 1 May mini-vacation will bring over 10,000 tourists to this destination. He appreciates that the Danuve Delta will again have a very god season this year, after steady rises of 20-25 percent in the last years, following our intense promotion efforts."
