Missile Attack in Syria Left 26 Dead
Mirror - Nine missiles fired on Syria in Hama and Aleppo were fired from British and US bases in Jordan, Syrian media has claimed.
The Syrian army has described the strikes as new "aggression" by its enemies, state television said.
But sources in the MOD say there was no involvement in the strikes, which saw missiles strike targets in Aleppo and Homs.
The claim that Britain and the US are behind the attack was made in the Syrian Teshreen newspaper, which is closely linked to the regime of president Bashar al-Assad.
Israel has also been blamed for the air attack in conflicting reports.
In a news flash, state television said the missile attacks took place at 10.30pm local time last night, with an army source stating: "Syria is being exposed to a new aggression with some military bases in rural Hama and Aleppo hit with enemy rockets."
A war monitor, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, said Sunday's attack had targeted a warehouse for rockets and killed 26 people, mostly Iranians and Iraqis.
Syrian opposition media have in contrast claimed 38 government government soldiers were killed in Hama.
