Gendarmes intervene amongst protesters in Victory Square, two gendarmes attacked

Bucharest, Aug 10 /Agerpres/ - A column of gendarmes moving, Friday evening, amongst the protesters in Victory Square, in front of the Government building, was attacked by some protesters, two of them being isolated and attacked, spurning an intervention of the gendarmes to clear the square.

The gendarme column moved through the middle of the square, some violent protesters throwing various objects towards them.

At least two gendarmes in the column were isolated and attacked by several persons. The images broadcast by TV stations also showed several protesters trying to corral and protect the two isolated gendarmes.

The gendarme force in front of the Government moved to clear the square of protesters using water cannons and tear gas. AGERPRES
