Romania-France Season, an opportunity to reassert our values, says ICR's Turoiu
The Romania-France Season will be an occasion to reassert the values, and to the Romanian Cultural Institute (ICR) the participation in this program is an experience that will certainly enrich it," the President of the ICR Liliana Turoiu said, after having signed the minutes of the 5th meeting of the 2018 - 2019 Romania - France Season Joint Committee.
"We are witnessing, together with the entire world, an age wherein things that seemed permanently conquered prove to be more fragile than we thought. It is all the more the time to voice our values clearly and loudly. As expected, after months of hard work together, the Season will be a good opportunity to reassert these values," Turoiu said, according to a release by the ICR, sent on Friday to AGERPRES.
She stressed that "for the Romanian Cultural Institute, the participation in this programme is an experience from which it comes out enriched."
"For the ICR, to participate in this major programme is an experience from which it will undoubtedly come out enriched - as we also hope that the Season has had to win from the contribution we were able to bring. We are involved in the next two years in four large-scale projects. We have to respond, these two years, to a series of challenges both honouring and empowering: the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the EU, with an agenda of associated cultural events, wherein the ICR is involved; the EUROPALIA 2019, with Romania as guest country, and the ICR - main partner on Romanian side's behalf; the marking this year of the Greater Union's Centennial, a moment coinciding with the debut of the Romania-France Season. There, an institutional tour de force, and a period as demanding as it is promising," Liliana Turoiu said.
The Season will alternatively take place in France and Romania from 27 November 2018 to 14 July 2019, having as main targets to update the image and perception of the two peoples one towards the other, the enhancement of the economic, scientific, cultural and society ties that are binding the two countries, the support of the business milieu in the two countries for the development of joint projects and the reassertion of the two countries' commitment to a Europe of peace, ideas and cooperation. The project equally focuses on contemporary culture and creation, and also on the educational, university, scientific, ecological, economic, digital, sports, gastronomical, tourism fields.
With a visual identity conveying the message "Forget about cliches", the Romania-France Season opens in Paris in the presence of the two countries' presidents and it will be followed by the visit of the Romanian prime minister, an economic forum in the presence of the relevant ministers and events to be attended by the foreign minister and the culture minister.AGERPRES(RO - author: Daniel Popescu, editor: Andreea Rotaru; EN - author: Maria Voican, editor: Simona Iacob)
