President Iohannis: Political necessity, to replace this accident of Romanian democracy that is Dragnea-Dancila Government

Replacing this accident of the Romanian democracy that is the Dragnea [Social Democratic Party leader, ed.n.]-Dancila [Romanian Prime Minister, ed.n.] Government represent the political necessity, President Klaus Iohannis stated on Monday at the General Assembly of the Romanian Municipalities' Association.

"As of 1 January 2019 Romania will take over the presidency of the Council of the European Union, a very important position, an extremely honourable position, a highly demanding position especially for the Government. In my opinion we are not ready for something like this. A few weeks ago I was asked by journalists and I said we will reasonably handle it, but in the meantime, things have got out of hand. Within the Government, people in charge with various sectors no longer get along, people who should be handling European matters leave or are dismissed and as such we find ourselves completely, completely unprepared at the last minute. And I believe unfortunately, even now, at the last minute, the political necessity is to replace this accident of the Romanian democracy that is the Dragnea-Dancila Government. There is no perspective of a good governing. There is no perspective of good involvement in the European matters.
