Plovdiv Medics Protest due to Low Wages
Medics from the Plovdiv Municipal Hospital "St. Mina" protest in front of the municipality building. The reason for their dissatisfaction is the low salaries and the lack of funds for their increase.
The protest is organized by the two syndicates in the medical facility. They say they will seek assistance from the municipal administration because the hospital management can not solve their problems.
The reason is that because of the limits imposed by the NHIF, the funds of the health care institution are not enough to have an increase in wages.
More than 30 nurses have already resigned collectively at the beginning of the year, with one month's notice being issued on February 7th.
St. Mina Hospital has long been in dire financial condition. For the last 3 years the municipality of Plovdiv has given over 2 million leva to pay the debts of the health care institution.
Meanwhile, in an effort to preserve it, a decision was reached by the Municipal Council for a merger with the other municipal hospital - St. Pantaleimon. The procedure is not over yet.
