Bulgaria Recognises Venezuelan National Assembly President Juan Guaido as the Country's Acting President

The Security Council at the Bulgaria's Council of Ministers has held an extraordinary meeting on the situation in Venezuela. The Council expressed Bulgaria's support for its partners in the European Union and the international community, who recognise Venezuelan National Assembly President Juan Guaido as the country's acting president until democratic elections can be called for a peaceful resolution of the crisis, preventing a humanitarian catastrophe and any further escalation of tension that could lead to violence, said the government press office.
The Council was chaired by Prime Minister Boyko Borissov, with the participation of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva, representatives of the security services and of the president of the Republic of Bulgaria. "The Republic of Bulgaria expresses its solidarity with all citizens of Venezuela, as well as with the citizens of the European Union member states who live there," the statement reads.
The document was endorsed by all Council members, with the exception of the president's representatives.
