Every Third Old Car Exported from Italy Arrives in Bulgaria

Every third old diesel car exported from Italy arrives in Bulgaria. Most of them are directed to Sofia. Only over last year, over 300,000 such cars have been exported from the European side, and a significant portion of them has been directed to our country, according to a study by the National Union of Italian Automobile Representatives in Italy quoted by "24 Hours".

In 2015, exports from the South European state were in the range of 397,000 cars, and in 2017 it was in the range of 429,000 units. For the first nine months of last year the number amounted to 332,000 vehicles. The main reason for the increase in exports of old diesel cars from Italy is the stricter rules on harmful emissions. In most of the municipalities in the country the movement of these cars is forbidden. The study also shows that most of the exported cars that come to Bulgaria are over 10 years old and 30% of the total arrived in our country come to Sofia. The majority of them, or 65 per cent, are diesel and 32 per cent are gasoline. Our country is No. 1 for the old Italian cars, as in 2017 the imported ones were 131 thousand, and for the first nine months of the year - 100 thousand.
